Duties: assist the head coach with all aspects of the team including: training, competing and scheduling; organizing and maintaining accurate inventory of softball equipment and uniforms; day-to-day coaching of student athletes and individual skill instruction; recruiting athletic and academically sound, competitive student athletes that can compete on the NCAA Division II level; establishing a strong working relationship with the University and surrounding community; following NCAA, Great American Conference and University rules and regulations; attending seminars, conferences and other professional development opportunities; assisting with pre-game preparations to include travel arrangements and player accommodations; assisting with recruiting including calling prospective student-athletes; evaluating high school and Junior College players; working cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department; attending department meetings and activities, and always representing the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school, club coaches, media and general public; assist with community and public relations, promotion of team within the community, and oversight of local practice facilities as well as serving as a positive role model for student athletes. Depending on qualifications, additional assignments could include: a teaching role, a member of the Student Activities team, and/or other duties assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field; demonstrate evidence of successful experience in coaching; record of success in collegiate and/or interscholastic softball coaching/playing; effective communication, excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail; interpersonal skills and commitment to total success of students.
