Job Description

What you'll be doing...

• Building software using the COBOL language and technologies
• Creating Routines from Scratch, Configuring Existing Systems and Providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) expertise as needed
• Writing Functional Code with a Sharp Eye for Spotting Defects, and Effectively Collaborating with other Team Members
• Analyzing Customer needs and Developing Overall Concepts, Design Objectives, and Applying Modern Methodologies, Techniques, and Technologies; Implementing Efficiencies where possible to Modernize Mainframe Architecture, Databases, Salesforce, and Mulesoft systems
• Analyzing Existing Customer Software to Identify and Remediation Functional Issues
• Working as an Effective Communicator with other Internal Team Members to Design, Develop, Modernize, and Maintain Legacy Systems

Must Have...

• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher, and 5 years proven experience as COBOL Senior Software Engineer with Mainframe Experience
• VA or other Federal Government experience required.
• Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks and regression testing is a plus
• Familiarity with design/architectural patterns (e.g. Model-View-Controller (MVC))
• Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC)
• Excellent analytical and organization skills
• An ability to understand front-end users requirements and a problem-solving attitude
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice to Have...

• CMMI Maturity Level 3, ISO 9001:2015 or 9001:2001, and ITIL experience a plus
• Has high standards, results oriented, and a commitment to delivering high quality software on time
• Salesforce and/or Mulesoft Experience
• Department of Veterans Affairs Experience
• Public Trust Clearance

• Applicants selected will be subject to a Security Investigation and May need to Meet Requirements for Access to Protected and/or Classified Information. 

Location..

• This is a US-Based Remote position, all applicants need to be located within the United States be to considered for the position, no foreign telework will be permitted.

Citizenship..

• Applicants need to be a US Citizen to be considered for the position and have physically resided in the United States for a minimum of 3 years due to background investigation requirements.
