Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Cognos Analytics 11 Developer to join our Business Intelligence team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining BI solutions using IBM Cognos Analytics. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of data modeling, and the ability to translate business requirements into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Requirement Analysis & Data Modeling
o Understand business requirements in the BI context and design data models using Framework Manager and Data Modules to transform raw data into meaningful insights.
2. Dashboard & Report Development
o Develop interactive dashboards and visual reports using Cognos Dashboards.
o Create reports using various components such as charts, lists, cross-tabs, and maps, and combine them into comprehensive dashboards.
3. KPI & Metrics Tracking
o Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with business objectives and develop reports to monitor them effectively.
4. Data Analysis & Decision Support
o Analyze data and present findings through reports that support strategic and operational decision-making.
5. Technical Specification & Planning
o Translate business requirements into technical specifications and estimate timelines for task completion.
6. Modeling & Security
o Design and develop models in Framework Manager and Data Modules, publish packages, implement security, and build reports based on these packages.
7. Advanced Reporting Techniques
o Utilize macros, prompts, filters, and calculations to create dynamic and user-driven reports.
o Implement advanced features such as master-detail relationships, drill-throughs, bookmarks, and page sets.
8. Data Warehouse & ETL Analysis
o Contribute to data warehouse development and analyze existing ETL processes to design new systems or enhance current ones.
9. SQL & Performance Tuning
o Perform SQL queries to validate data, troubleshoot issues, and optimize report performance.
10. System Enhancements
o Implement technical changes to existing BI systems to improve functionality and performance.
11. Database Knowledge
o Apply knowledge of relational and multidimensional database design principles in BI development.
12. Cognos-Specific Expertise
Demonstrate hands-on experience with Data Modules, Dashboarding, and Cognos Analytics 11 features
