We free minds and build bank accounts. We’re on a mission to help 1 million people become financially free and to create 100,000 small business owners. 

We’re a digital education and media startup that has amassed 8 million followers in 3 years–and we’re just getting started

We also produce some of the best content in the finance category on our YouTube channel (and Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok). 

99% of our content is 100% free. 

The other 1% is how we help people become expert deal makers so they can acquire a “boring business” that cashflows 

We do this through our courses and a select, highly engaged community of over 3,000+ business owners. 

We also have our own investment fund, Contrarian Thinking Capital, that invests in the businesses and tech that supports SMB growth and our own portfolio company, Main Street Hold co. 

So, yeah, you could say we put our money where our mouths are. 

Why our work matters …

The “Silver Tsunami” is in full effect, with Baby Boomers retiring and their businesses needing a succession plan. 

Their businesses have been run for decades, many at a healthy profit, but alas, they have been overlooked by institutional investors. 

And since many Millennials are focused on becoming YouTube stars and not wanting to own their parent’s landscaping company (even if it’s making millions) these Boomers are forced to either close or sell their business. 

Therein lies our opportunity. 

We call them “Boring Businesses”. They are your local laundromats, car washes, pool cleaning routes, handyman services, etc.–the unsexy blue-collar businesses that no one thinks about but everyone needs. And boy are they profitable. 

But it’s not all about the benjamins 

We believe our communities are a better place when our actual neighbor owns the Neighborhood Store and not a conglomerate.

Position Overview 

We are looking for a proven strategic podcast producer/director to lead and grow our audio business and be the driving force behind the success and growth of the BigDeal podcast with Codie Sanchez. 

We are currently a top 100 business podcast, your goal is to get us into the top 25.

This role requires a creative, organized, and growth-focused individual who understands strategy, creative development, promotion and podcast production and is also intimately familiar with leading podcast distribution platforms. You will be responsible for owning podcasts from concept to execution. You have a combination of creative, analytics and production chops in order to build a content strategy that will dramatically increase our audience and engagement. You will also be working side by side with our founder and host Codie Sanchez (bio below). Codie is smart, savvy and has often directed her own podcasts and videos so we need someone mature and experienced who can understand her vision, win her trust and then take us to the next level. 

You will work with a small production team and with our video team as well as marketing and PR to ensure that each episode is polished, impactful, and aligned with the BigDeal vision. This is also not a siloed position. You will support and collaborate with the team across all of our content channels as we build Contrarian Thinking’s footprint and expand the company into new revenue streams and businesses. We believe our vision is the template for the modern media startup.

Requirements

Skills and Experiences You’ll Need:

• 7+ years of experience in som combination of podcast development, production, promotion, and audience development (preferably working for a high profile creator)
• Strong storytelling skills with a knack for crafting viral narratives through titles, questions, and framing (this includes doing guest research and building into story lines, etc)
• Deep understanding of podcast trends, platforms, SEO, posting cadence, audience behavior, and content packaging
• Experience with audio editing or working with an audio/video editor providing feedback on long-form content and storytelling
• Experience cutting and packaging short-form clips for promotion on other platforms
• Experience working on business, finance, self help or another affluent adult targeted content offering. Experience writing for this audience is ideal.
• Experience thriving in a fast paced startup environment where learning, iterating, and shipping things quickly is the vibe.
• The ability to work as a self starter with the instinct to take action and solve problems quickly while at the same time understanding when to collaborate and work as a team
• A problem-solver who uses frameworks to rigorously define and analyze problems, creating solutions.
• The maturity to work with senior business leaders, celebrities and other established on camera talents with the instinct to build confidence and know when to make recommendations on set
