Come join our Localization team and help us create the informative and fun blog translations for Japanese learners. We are looking for a talented native Japanese translator/proofreader fluent in English to translate the Duolingo Blog (

This is a contract role (no benefits) that can be based anywhere in the world.

Responsibilities:

• Localize 8 blog posts per month, ensuring they are accurate, charismatic, and reflect Duolingo's style guide and requirements
• Consult with fellow team members to discuss translations and align on style, tone, and vocabulary
• Ensure that original content is not only understandable for Japanese audience, but also engaging and compelling

Requirements:

• Native fluency in Japanese and full professional fluency in English
• 3+ years of experience in translating, transcreation, proofreading, and/or copywriting for a Japanese audience
• Experience with Machine Translation Post-Editing
• A portfolio of past work to demonstrate your expertise
• Strong interest in Duolingo and our mission
• Ability to work 5-15 hrs/week (workload may vary from week to week)
• Experience in any of the following is a plus:
  • Social Media content creation
  • SEO
  • Learning Science or language teaching
  • Localization for online, mobile, and/or game products
