Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to provide on-site anesthesia services at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. This is a rewarding opportunity to care for veterans while working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team in a state-of-the-art facility.
Schedule & Shifts:
CRNAs must be flexible to work 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts based on patient needs, including weekends and federal holidays. Shift options include:
12-hour shifts:
7 AM – 7 PM (Weekends and Federal Holidays preferred)
7 PM – 7 AM (Weekdays, Weekends, and Holidays as needed)
10-hour shifts:
7 AM – 5 PM (Weekdays)
8-hour shifts:
7 AM – 3 PM (Weekdays)
Extra hours may be required depending on clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform pre-anesthetic evaluations, formulate anesthetic plans, and discuss risks/benefits with patients
Administer general, regional, local, IV, and topical anesthesia
Monitor patients intraoperatively and manage recovery post-anesthesia
Maintain accurate documentation of anesthetic services
Participate in interdisciplinary care and train anesthesia and medical students from Baylor College of Medicine and UTHealth
Respond to emergencies, including airway management and resuscitation
Stay up-to-date with clinical advancements and maintain best practices

BLS Certification
ACLS Certification
Current CRNA License
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of CRNA experience
Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program (AANA-approved)
Current, unrestricted CRNA license (any U.S. State or Territory)
Certification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
Must maintain AANA certification and meet VA recertification requirements
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred Qualities:
Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience in high-acuity and multidisciplinary settings
