Summary::

The Manager oversees a comprehensive and holistic program promoting student behavioral health and wellbeing. The Manager serves as a resource, consultant, and collaborator with faculty, staff, and students for the early identification and intervention of at-risk students or students in distress. The Manager plans and delivers training sessions, resource fairs, and workshops on mental health and other topics related to student wellbeing, including but not limited to the following: nutrition, mindfulness, stress management, substance abuse, grief, and sexual and domestic violence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Meet with students and facilitating referrals to TimelyCare (and/or other similar systems used at the College) and/or to external community agencies/healthcare providers
  • Promote student usage of TimelyCare and tracking student usage
  • Utilize and update student case records in the Maxient Platform (and/or other similar systems used at the College)
  • Maintain confidential, timely, and accurate documentation of student records
  • Plan and present evidence-based trainings, presentations, and assessments that address contemporary college population mental health concerns
  • Facilitate and promote mental health first aid training to members of the college community
  • Develop student screening tools for mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, alcohol & drug use, and suicide risk
  • Design and administer a College Health Assessment to gather baseline data from students on the following: alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use; sexual health, weight, nutrition, and exercise; mental health; personal safety and violence; food insecurity and homelessness; and hours of sleep.
  • Partner with Marketing to create student prevention campaigns on social media platforms
  • Participate in Student Life events to promote services including New Student Orientation, Welcome Week and De-Stressor Week and other college events as assigned by Supervisor and/or Designee.
  • Serve as member of NABITA and assist the Director of Public Safety and the Vice President of Student Affairs with student behavioral risk assessments
  • Complete an annual assessment of educational support services related to work
  • Conduct outreach with student athletes and attend annual athlete orientation in August
  • Conduct classroom visits or presentations when requested
  • Organize annual NARCAN training and awareness for campus community
  • Facilitate timely follow up with crisis intervention situations
  • Attend related county and statewide meetings as appropriate
  • Partner with Cecil County Health Department and other community agencies on new or ongoing initiatives
  • Participate in professional development to maintain subject matter expertise in the field of mental health
  • Oversee wellness activities in the Dance Studio including hiring, selecting, and scheduling instructors
  • Serve on the CARES Team and participate in additional College committees as needed
  • Coordinate the Mental Health and Wellness Fair, Wellness in Words, Mindfulness Mondays, and Lunch & Learn workshops
  • ·Provide current information related to mental health services on the College's intranet portal
  • Maintain and update College’s external website for office as well as intranet portal
  • Daily monitoring of wellbeing email account; respond to inquiries as needed.
  • Serve on SNAP committee. Serve as a trained SNAP coach
  • Develop and sustain partnership with Accessibility Services to track and/or assist students receiving accommodations.
  • Generating monthly student wellbeing reports to capture/track student use
  • Participate in annual Admissions Open Houses, Fall and Spring
  • Assist with providing follow-up in emergency situations that may occur outside of normal business hours .
  • Handle other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Master’s degree required, preferably in counseling, social work, health services and/or health promotion.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in mental health counseling is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Able to identify, project and organize process and procedures related to at-risk students and/or students in distress.
  • Data collection, assessment and knowledge is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to facilitate large and small group workshops and workshops.
  • Professional experiences should reflect an understanding of the value and impact of mental health services, substance abuse education, and wellness.
  • Must demonstrate creativity and energy in approach to supporting student success. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must be available during the hours of 8 am to 4:30 pm with one shift per week on Monday or Wednesday evening from 10 am to 6:30 pm and should have the flexibility to schedule evening appointments with students when required.
  • This position requires travel to Elkton Station location. Candidate is expected to have a presence at the Elkton Station and hold office hours there 5 hours per week at minimum.
  • Due to the need of interaction with students, employees, and the college community this position requires in-person presence. This position is eligible for telework.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met. However, there may be times where additional lifting is required to set-up materials and display equipment at outreach events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.

This is a exempt (salaried), non overtime eligible position; Grade 117(pay scale: $64,393.5-103,029). The salary for the position based on budget is $70,000-$72,000. Applicants initial salary placement is based on internal equity and relevant candidate experience.
