The Railroad Grade Crossing Inspector and Code Administrator role is your opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the safety and efficiency of Indiana’s railroad infrastructure. This position is vital in ensuring the safety and compliance of railroad grade crossings throughout the state by conducting thorough field inspections, enforcing state and federal regulations, and fostering collaboration among key stakeholders. In this role, you will:

State Vehicle: 20%
Hazardous conditions: Working around live rail operations and on uneven tracks near rail-highway crossings.
Engineer Trainee:
A Professional Engineering license is not required for this position. Candidates who have an Engineering degree and a current Engineer in Training license (EIT), but do not hold a professional license, may be hired at a lower minimum salary and are eligible for promotional increases upon achieving milestones including years of experience and obtaining their Professional Engineering license.

This position is located in INDOT’s Central Office, Indianapolis.
Salary :
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $75,010.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
