What would you do as a Retail Sales Associate/Thrift Store

  • Assist in training, directing, and supporting thrift store volunteers.
  • Facilitate the receipt and processing of donations while addressing donor questions.
  • Aid in merchandising the sales floor and pricing items according to policy.
  • Sort, price, and stock items, keeping the store clean and organized.
  • Assist customers with inquiries and purchases to ensure a positive shopping experience. Adhere to ReStore policies and procedures.
  • Accurately manage cash handling and credit card processing using the POS register.
  • Participate in daily cleaning and maintenance activities. Attend daily staff meetings.
  • Remain flexible in filling vacant shifts and extending work hours as necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time hours, including weekends and evenings as scheduled, up to 40 hours weekly.
  • It is a fast-paced environment with frequent public interaction, which can be stressful.
  • It requires physical activity, including standing, walking, and occasional climbing or kneeling. Additionally, this position is subject to extreme temperature variations.

Requires the physical ability to sit, walk, and/or stand for prolonged periods. This individual must also have the use of all senses, including, but not limited to, sight, hearing, smell, and taste, while possessing the ability to stand, stoop, bend, grasp, and/or hold to complete warehouse, shop, showroom, and storage area work. The typical workplace will be out of the office and in the warehouse, box truck, storage area, and shop. While the HfHBC offices are smoke-free and temperature-controlled, most work may be outdoors, in non-temperature-controlled conditions. This position requires individuals who can safely lift at least 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
