JOB OPPORTUNITY BULLETIN  

POSITION TITLE: Scada Specialist 

JOB LOCATION:  

• Wastewater Treatment Plant.
• City of Zephyrhills.

 
SALARY RANGE:

• Starting Salary: $44,103.60 / $21.20/hr. 
• Pay Grade Z-19.
• Non-Exempt / Mandatory Testing.

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT STATUS: Applicable. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• High school diploma or GED. Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions and work well with the public and co-workers. 
• Minimum of five (5) years direct experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of SCADA systems hardware and software. 
• Documented SCADA system training from a recognized SCADA manufacturer/distributor. 
• Must have knowledge of safe operations and routine maintenance of equipment. Knowledge and related experience in water and wastewater treatment operations highly preferred. 
• Wastewater Collections certification Class C or higher preferred. 
• Must have or be able to obtain a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: 

• Responsible for managing the utility department’s SCADA system. 
• Troubleshoot equipment and software to diagnose and repair system malfunctions. 
• Assist in the development and installation of new programs for system upgrades and/or expansions. Investigate and evaluate hardware, software, or service required to repair, replace, enhance, update, or improve the SCADA environment. 
• Operate heavy equipment including backhoe, frontend loader, dump trucks, boring machine, trencher, etc. 

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

• The selected candidate will have a background check completed, undergo drug testing, and complete a physical exam before employment. Tasks completed for this position involve regular and sustained physical exertion. Possession and maintenance of a Florida driver license is also required before employment.

The compensation package will start at the base salary range and may vary based on proven abilities of the individual selected. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
