About S.E. Smith and Sons.
Samuel Eugene Smith and his two sons, Craig and Lance, always had a passion for fixing cars and trucks and understanding the operations of how vehicles work. The trio started by fixing neighbors’ and friends’ vehicles out of their own homes, and quickly grew by word of mouth—in the area, the Smith family mechanics became known for the quality of their work, great personalities, and loyalty to their customers. They became busy enough that it became necessary to open a real shop. In early 1962, Sam found the perfect facility in Glendora, CA, just off Arrow Highway, and S.E. Smith & Sons officially opened for business. One day, after the shop had been up and running for a while, Craig and Lance had a vision—a vision of working on diesel, tractors, and trailers. After many years of planning and deliberating how the truck repair would fit into their business and their lifestyles, they began to market for commercial and fleet vehicles. When they received their first big fleet account, there was no turning back. From that day forward, S.E. Smith & Sons became very well known for its top-notch truck repair work and trustworthy team. Sadly, Lance passed away in 1996, and Sam in 2008, but Craig continues to grow the business. At the much larger shop in Azusa, Craig has big plans to carry forward the reputation and history of S.E. Smith & Sons.
S.E. Smith & Sons is a trusted name in truck and trailer repair, proudly serving Southern California with hands-on service, clean operations, and a reputation built on loyalty and craftsmanship. From commercial fleets to individual drivers, we’re known for doing the job right—and treating people right. Our Azusa-based shop is spacious, organized, and fully equipped to handle everything from DOT inspections to diesel diagnostics. Clients appreciate our consistent hours, responsive team, and the kind of mechanical precision that only comes from decades of experience. That experience began in 1962, when Samuel Eugene Smith and his sons, Craig and Lance, turned their passion for fixing vehicles into a full-time business. What started in a home garage quickly grew by word of mouth, thanks to their quality work and neighborly spirit. Over time, the shop expanded into diesel, tractor, and trailer repair—earning fleet accounts and a loyal customer base. Though Sam and Lance have passed, Craig continues to lead the business with the same hands-on approach and commitment to excellence that defined the Smith family from the start. Today, S.E. Smith & Sons remains a place where good work, good people, and good service come together.
