Job Description Summary General Electric Aerospace is a leader in the industrialization of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) for military and commercial jet engines. The Senior Project Manager is accountable for leading cross functional teams in the successful execution of mid to large size capital projects at the GE Aerospace Huntsville site. This Project Manager will drive Front End Engineering efforts through equipment start-up, and is accountable for achieving all safety, schedule, operability, and cost goals for their assigned projects.
Job Description Essential Responsibilities - A leader in safety on assigned projects including setting expectations and being visible in the field
- Alignment of project goals, objectives, and justification (business case) between the manufacturing business leads, the capital plan, corporate direction, and the project teams
- Identification of key resources for active participation in different functions on the project
- As required, prepares detailed estimates for review by the project team, leadership and project stakeholders
- Assures project team ownership of the scope, estimate, and schedule for assigned project
- Manages execution of all assigned projects through the GE Aerospace stage gate process
- Holds team members accountable for results and is responsible for requesting all people assets needed to successfully complete assigned projects
- Responsible for change management implementation on assigned projects and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations
- Development and selection of execution, contracting, and funding strategies that support project objectives and the effective investment of capital
- Develops documents and assures project team alignment by reviewing these documents with the team and having a signed off commitment
- Prepares project charters, funding presentations, forecasts all schedule and cost details, reports on project status, and takes action to address discrepancies to plan
- Conducts post project audits to collect actual data versus forecasted data for the purpose of improving project results over time
- In cooperation with the Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) organization, accountable for assuring all process hazard reviews have been conducted effectively and resulting scope is integrated into assigned projects
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years PSM Project management experience)
- Minimum of 5 years Project Management experience
Desired Characteristics - Experience executing projects at a PSM regulated site
- Experience executing projects utilizing an EPC contractor
- Experience leading a large capital project in excess of $50M
- Ability and willingness to work off shift, as required.
- Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization.
- Excellent team management and relationship building skills.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6
- Knowledge of a project stage gate process
